Products

The Albion Eye Optical has a wide selection of lens options that we can offer our customers based on their individualistic needs. Below is a sample list of the products we offer.

glasses Plastic Lenses: Generally regarded as the replacement for glass, conventional plastic lenses weigh approximately half of a glass lens and are actually more impact resistant than glass. They do, however, have a tendency to scratch easily. Fortunately, The Albion Eye Optical offers a variety of choices to help reduce the risk of scratching your lenses including Scratch Resistant Coating and of course upgrading your lenses to Polycarbonate material.

Polycarbonate Lenses: Unlike plastic lenses, Polycarbonate lenses are thinner, lighter and more than 10 times stronger in terms of impact resistance than plastic lenses. An ideal, worthwhile investment choice for sports athletes as well as children.

“High Index” Lenses: These lenses are recommended for those who have a high prescription. Higher prescriptions indicate a higher index of refraction which generally results in a thicker lens. High Index lenses use less material than conventional lenses and offer your prescription in a much denser atmosphere. A thinner lens is a lighter lens. Our High index lenses can absorb harmful UV light and can also be custom tinted based on our customers’ needs. We also offer Aspheric High Index design lenses which, in the case of strong plus lenses, can reduce or even eliminate the “bug-eyed” amplification of a person’s eye when staring through a lens. The result is a high-quality finish with a very aesthetic appeal.

Bifocal, Trifocal and Progressive Lenses: It’s simple. Bifocals have one line separating distance with near vision. Trifocals have two lines separating distance, intermediate, and near vision. Progressive lenses are also referred to as no-line bifocals and are the industry’s closest to natural vision. Progressives can provide a smoother switchover from distance to intermediate to near distances and virtually eliminate “image-jump”. Although it takes time for customers to adapt to a progressive style lens (especially new progressive wearers), The Albion Eye Optical will inform you on which progressive lens is best for you based on your lifestyle. A wide variety of progressive lenses are available through today’s very technologically intense market and The Albion Eye Optical has the right lens type for you.

Sunglass Lenses

glasses Polarized Lenses: These lenses filter out reflected light and glare off certain surfaces such as water, pavement and especially snow. An ideal lens for anybody that takes a part in fishing, boating, or driving. Polarized lenses are the most value conscious way to eliminate glare and UV light.

Photochromic Plastic Lenses: These are designed for people who like a custom-style tint in their lenses while keeping the weight down allowing one to deviate from traditional, and more common, solid tints. The advantage of a photochromic lens, compared to solid tints, is that these particular lenses change color reasonably quickly when suddenly exposed to certain light conditions. The Albion Eye Optical offers a variety of photochromic lenses. Ask us about getting what’s right for you!
